West Midlands Asian Lifestyle Survey 2001
Synopsis:
- In 1995: the DoH commissioned Walsall Health Authority to
conduct a Health and Lifestyle Survey of Walsall’s South Asians.
- In 2000: 5 years later the Director of Public Health Medicine
had concerns that this community was still at a disadvantage in
terms of health status and lifestyle issues. He commissioned a
second survey to determine if needs had changed.
- As many as possible of the original respondents still resident
in Walsall were interviewed
- The 1995 questionnaire was used
- Interviewers were trained to market research society standards
- In 1995, 1350 residents were interviewed.
- In 2000, the Health Authority Exeter Database indicated that
1126 of these were still resident in Walsall.
- The true figure was 993 highlighting the inaccuracy of the
register.
Response rate:
703/993= 70.8%
