Rotherham Young Person's Lifestyle Survey
The purpose of the Lifestyle Survey is to provide baseline information
to feed into the Children and Young People’s Plan and Well-Being Strategy. This
information will be monitored on an annual basis in order to inform
service development and improvement. Individual results will also be fed
back to the schools participating in the survey. This will provide them
with an overview of how well they are performing in particular areas and
whether or not they need to target resources to address particular areas
of concern.
The survey was conducted in February, 2006 and was aimed at all students
in Year 7 and Year 10 in seven comprehensive schools, one in each Area
Assembly. Out of the initial 3300 questionnaires that were sent out 2666
were completed and returned, indicating an 80.8% response rate.
The Lifestyle Survey was developed in order to fill existing gaps in
information, for example, in relation to, smoking, drinking and drugs,
bullying, leading healthy lifestyles and emotional well-being. The
survey conducted this year will provide Rotherham with baseline
information that will continue to be monitored on an annual basis.
