North Cumbria Health Survey 2003
In September 2003 the three Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) in North Cumbria
sent a health and lifestyle survey to a ten percent sample of the adult
population registered with a doctor in North Cumbria. The survey asked
49 questions on a variety of subjects such as general health, smoking,
and diet. The analysis of these questions aims to give a clearer picture
of the health of people in North Cumbria and highlight local health
inequalities across the PCT areas.
The ten percent sample of the adult (18 and over) population registered
with a general practitioner gave a sample size of 25,504. Unfortunately
a number of people did not receive or wish to participate in the survey
leaving a sample of 24,204. The response rate across North Cumbria was
high with 71.2 percent of people completing and returning the survey.
