Neston & Willaston Lifestyle Survey 2002
Synopsis:
The aim of the Neston and Willaston Lifestyle survey is to obtain
baseline information on people's perceptions of their health and
lifestyle and the perceived impact on their health of personal and
environmental factors. This survey, in conjunction with other
consultation exercises carried out by the Well Being Network1, could
inform the planning and local delivery of appropriately tailored
services.
The Centre for Public Health Research was commissioned to conduct the
survey. Data were collected using a postal questionnaire. The
questionnaire was sent to 3,928 people, registered with the Ellesmere
Port and Neston Primary Care Group, in the 25 - 74 year age range in the
six wards. This excluded those people in the Willaston and Thornton ward
living in Thornton Hough and Raby who are registered with the Wirral
Health Authority; for this reason, the part of this ward surveyed is
referred to simply as Willaston.
The sample selected was representative of all the people in the six
wards in terms of age and gender. 2,069 questionnaires were used in the
analysis, giving an overall response rate of 52%. For a survey of this
kind, this is considered to be very good.
