Survey Errors

These can be of two types:

• Sampling Error is the error resulting from selecting a sample rather than taking a full census
• Non-sampling Errors are all the other sources of error that potentially come with conducting a survey and include:
   
  • Sampling frame inaccuracies
  • Mis-defining of the population
  • Measurement of the error
  • Data analysis error
  • Questioning error, recording error, response error
  • Non response

The key task in survey research is to minimise all errors to ensure maximum precision in the survey estimates
