Example – Census Approach

The survey of Lifestyles of Older People in West Sussex was undertaken in partnership between West Sussex Public Health Observatory, the County Council and others. The ‘survey’ was in fact a census of all people aged 65 or over who were registered with a GP in West Sussex. The census was administered with the flu immunisation letters – questionnaires were included with the letter. In total, 165,000 questionnaires were sent out. Of these, 48,020 returns were usable for data analysis (29%).
