Selection of Lifestyle Survey Providers

If you are planning to commission an external organisation to conduct your lifestyle survey, there are a number of organisations which can be used to either conduct all, or part of the work, or who can give you further advice about conducting your own survey.  These include national research agencies, local research companies, and Universities.  Further details of each are given below.

National Research Agencies

A number of larger social and market research agencies have expertise in conducting health and lifestyle surveys.  These are sometimes more costly providers, but they may have useful experience of lifestyle surveys in other areas.  They are usually members of the Market Research Society, whose website contains a full list of agencies.

The Resource Bank on this site includes reports from many lifestyle surveys. Some of these were conducted by survey research agencies. We have also produced a summary and a review of lifestyle surveys conducted in the UK. This details numerous organisations who have conducted lifestyle surveys for PCTs and local authorities. Local Research Companies

Local social and market research companies sometimes provide lifestyle surveys for trusts and local authorities.  These can provide good value for money, knowledge of the local area and local issues and improved day-to-day communication.

Local Universities

Some Universities provide advice and assistance on conducting a Lifestyle Survey - others will conduct the full survey and reporting.  Within some universities, specialist centres provide a focus for this work.
